Brand information: etnies
in some sense etnies founder pierre andre senizergues was a pioneer when he set up the company in 1986. back then there was a growing skate-scene in france, but no performance sneakers made for skating. senizergues wanted to change that and designed the first couple of shoes with his friends. success turned out to be moderate in the beginning, but etnies survived and celebrated their first hit soon. natas kaupas was signed to a contract as the first professional skater. kaupas also helped in the development process and played a significant part in the success of the company. today etnies manufactures more than shoes. they also make shirts, jenas, hoodies and backpacks, which are all tailored to the needs of skaters worldwide and are therefore extremely popular among skateboarders.
